Kindergarten Abstract "Shape" Portraits

For the past month, I decided to try something new in the art room and have each grade focus on the same artist: Pablo Picasso! Grades K through 5 created abstract portraits, focusing on different elements of art at each grade level. In kindergarten, students focused on shape. They were encouraged to use as many shapes as possible while creating their eyes, noses, and mouths. See how many shapes you can count!

En el último mes he decidido intentar algo nuevo en el aula de arte, y hacer que todos los niveles se enfoquen en el mismo artista: Pablo Picasso! Los niveles desde Kinder hasta el quinto crearon retratos abstractos, enfocándose en diferentes elementos artisticos en cada nivel. En el Kinder, los estudiantes se enfocaron en las formas.  Se les alentó a usar tantas formas como fuera posible para crear los ojos, narices y bocas. Vean cuantas formas pueden encontrar!

Pre-K Marker Paint Turkeys

During the week before Thanksgiving, pre-kindergarten students colored in turkeys with markers. They were told to use whatever colors they wanted! Then, they used brushes and water to paint over their turkeys, creating a watercolor effect.
